B.Pharm in Bangalore โ 4-Year PCI-Approved Degree at NIP College
B.Pharm at NIP College is a four-year, eight-semester Bachelor of Pharmacy degree approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. Students who have passed 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry are eligible, and D.Pharm holders can join directly in the second year through lateral entry.
Course Duration
4 years
Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following – Mathematics / Computer Science / Biotechnology / Biology.
Obtained at least 40% marks (35% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. Candidates who have passed D.Pharm course approved by Pharmacy Council of India shall also be eligible to this course and can be admitted directly to II Year.
Age
17 years and above
Every candidate shall undergo practical training in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing House / Approved Hospital / CSIR research labs for a period of not less than one hundred and fifty hours to be covered in not less than 45 days after completing III year or IV year.

Important timing note: there are two syllabi in play right now. PCI has mandated a revised, NEP 2020-aligned B.Pharm syllabus from the 2026โ27 academic session, launched on 17 April 2026, replacing the syllabus that had been in place since 2016โ17. Students already enrolled continue on the old structure until graduation.

Assessment is typically 75 marks external + 25 internal per theory paper, with labs attached to most subjects and roughly 208 credits overall.
The new 2026 NEP structure โ for students joining 2026โ27 onward
Reported highlights (from a PCI-approved college’s summary of the framework โ treat the specifics as indicative until you see the PDF yourself):
- Total credit load rises to about 193 credits, up from roughly 160
- Around 21 new subjects across the eight semesters, including Biostatistics & Data Analytics (Sem II), Social Pharmacy & Public Health (Sem IV), Innovation & Startup Ecosystem (Sem V), IPR (Sem VI) and Pharmaceutical Management & Marketing (Sem VIII)
- A computing thread running through the degree: Python Programming for Pharmacy in Sem I, Machine Learning in Sem III, AI Applications in Sem VI, Clinical AI in Sem VII, AI Ethics in Sem VIII
- Two mandatory internships built into the course itself โ community/hospital pharmacy in Sem IV and clinical pharmacy in Sem VI, 4 credits each
- A two-semester research project in Sems VII and VIII worth 6 credits each, ending in a thesis and viva
- Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs become standalone subjects rather than modules inside other papers
- Electives are now classified NEP-style into AEC (ability enhancement), SEC (skill enhancement) and VAC (value-added) courses
One practical caveat: PCI publishes the framework, but each affiliating university (Mumbai University, DTE Maharashtra colleges, RGUHS, etc.) must issue its own adoption circular and academic calendar, so rollout dates and paper codes vary by university.
During each academic year three sets of exams for theory paper will be conducted for maximum marks of 30 and an average of best two exams will be considered.
